Data journalist and co-founder of Irish Times Data, launched in February 2015.

I have a (perhaps unhealthy) love for Excel and can often be found at my desk poring over spreadsheets, reformatting PDFs, building interactive graphics and maps and cleaning and decoding data.

However, I also try and get out in the real world every once in a while because, while data can be very interesting in itself, it's often the people behind the data who tell the best stories.

I use interactive graphics and maps to help engage readers and, wherever possible, I make the data behind the Irish Times Data stories accessible to readers through the Irish Times Databank.

I am also responsible for promoting our stories through the @IrishTimesData Twitter handle.

I work on a wide variety of stories on topics including politics, education and social affairs (and most everything in between) and frequently use the Freedom of Information Act to source stories.
